The Internet is only as useful as each user makes it, but a new website developed by two Cedar Park brothers aims to simplify that search process.
After more than a year of development and testing, startup website Bliips.com officially went live May 31. Duo Ken and Justin Jackson worked to help make the project a reality, and they both agree their website helps clean up the Internet for those who need it most.
The “one-stop shop” pulls business information from social media outlets and coupon websites so users do not have to browse site to site. Users can also easily access directions and contact information automatically, and owners can modify their business listings with additional information.
“While working with small businesses, we learned the Net is becoming a busy, cluttered place,” Ken said. “And it’s becoming even easier for that space to get more and more noisy, so it’s our goal to help businesses get discovered online.”
The Cedar Park residents have traveled to conferences in San Francisco and New York City so far this year to showcase theirbusiness search engine. The feedback proved productive, Ken said, with many fellow developers asking how this idea has not already been realized.
“If we weren’t going to do it, somebody else would,” Ken said.
The idea caters to businesses and professionals, who are likely to embrace the website after seeing others participate, Justin said.
“Bliips is clearly for consumers, and that’s the reason businesses will like it—because consumers like it,” he said. “We’re creating a service people will want to use—that people already use, just now it’s at one location.”
“The site becomes more useful as time goes on,” Ken said.
Feedback so far has been favorable, Ken said, especially because Bliips pulls its data from familiar websites that users already know and appreciate.
“And we’ll continually evolve the product with the market,” Justin said.
Bliips was co-founded by brothers Ken Jackson, a veteran software architect, and Justin Jackson, an attorney, in Cedar Park, Texas in 2012.
